Remembrance Day
Every year in November, we remember a special day. This year is a significant anniversary marking 100 years since the First World War came to an end. The poppies we wear every November are to remember the thousands of people who died in battle. After learning about poppies and remembrance day in school, children at Southgate wanted to make their own memorial to commemorate this day. Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 painted poppies, which were proudly displayed on the fencing in the playground. The remainder of the school got creative, and used plastic bottles to make 3D poppies for the field. The result was fantastic—a beautiful sea of poppies for all to enjoy. Well done to the children for respecting this special time and creating a beautiful tribute.
