GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

School Admissions

Southgate Primary is a 1 form entry Primary School. We have a Published Admission Number (PAN) of 30, for Reception aged children each year. Southgate Primary School admissions are coordinated by West Sussex County Council please click here to apply.

All parents/carers living in West Sussex need to complete their online application form or a paper form.  No separate application is required direct to the academy.

Families living outside West Sussex must use their Home Local Authority’s form to apply for a place at a West Sussex school.

The closing date for applications for entry to our school in September 2025 (either online or paper) was 15th January 2025.

On Wednesday 16th April 2025 an outcome email or letter was sent by West Sussex’s Admissions and Transport team to all parents/ carers who have completed a West Sussex application form.

Waiting lists

Where there are more children than places available, waiting lists will operate for each year group according to the oversubscription criteria without regard to the date the application was received or when a child’s name was added to the waiting list.

Waiting lists are held until 31st December of the academic year applied for when they will be cancelled. Parents wishing to remain on the waiting list after this date must make an in-year application to West Sussex.

Late Applications

If you have not yet submitted an application for your child, a late application will need to be submitted to West Sussex Council. Please see the following link for more informaion.

When Southgate Primary School is over-subscribed the schools admission policy is used to rank the applications. Please check the annual policy for detail of the ranking criteria.

Appeals

If you did not get the school place you wanted, your child will be placed on a waiting list and you may want to appeal. Please see the following link for more information.

Admission of children outside their normal year group

The Department for Education (DfE) expects pupils to be educated in their normal chronological year group however should you wish for your child to defer yourchild'sentry to Reception or be admited to a different year group please visit the following link for more information.
