Great Britain Athlete Visit!

Southgate Primary were very lucky to have a Great British athlete visit us on Thursday 13th June. Ricky Lutakome (a cross country, 800m and 1600m runner) spoke to the whole school about his journey as an athlete. He shared with the children how he hadn't always been the best at running at his school, but with hard work and determination he managed to achieve his goal of joining a running club. He then pushed himself and was able to join the English, and then the Great British athletics teams. The children were also able to join in with some training exercises and ask Ricky questions about his career. Ricky inspired the children and has hopefully encouraged them to work hard to achieve their own dreams!
